I've been using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter to rip my DVDs to
native .VOB/.BUP/.IFO format.
Recently discovered a problem when my playback application
(SageTV) has to render a ripped DVD across the internet to a
remote media extender.
DVDs work find locally.
.MPG's work fine either locally or across the internet.
If I can't find a workaround for the native DVD files, my plan is
to convert all of my DVDs to .MPG using VideoReDoTvSuite.
.MPG, not because I know anything, but bc it works and it's the
format that recorded TV shows get written in automagically.
I'm open to suggestions vis-a-vis more appropriate formats.
Preserving menu systems is not an issue with me. I tend to re
author just "Main Movie" and, if there are worthwhile extras, to
rip them separately under their own title - the Windows directory
hierarchy/file system becoming my "Menu".
The Question:
Going onwards, is there a utility that will rip new physical DVDs
to .MPG, or do I have to rip to native .VOB... and then convert?
If not, maybe some way to batch-script the process?
