Hi guys, Ive been using DVD shrink for about 6 months now. Up until today it has worked very nice, the best program of its
kind on the market, and it's free!

Problem is, I put in Peter Pan (the new one) and tried to copy it (kids like it) and it first asked for the region, then it
told me it wont copy a copyrighted DVD. It never did this before, and I have copied probably a dozen or more commercial DVDs
just like it.

The only thing I can think of, is I just used windows update and took all its recommended updates. Anyone else having this
problem? How can I fix this? Im using WinXP Pro, w/SP1 and all the updates. DVDShrink 3.1.7.6. My DVD burner is Pioneer 4x.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Again, it has nothing to do with the blank media. The program game me the copyright message just upon OPENING the commercial
DVD. It hadn't even gotten to the encoding or burning part yet.

Try DVD Decryptor, I have had Shrink fall over on RCE protected stuff
before.

Quite a few people have had problems with the later version of dvd shrink
(the one you have)....
are you able to try with an earlier version?
, or you can rip the dvd to your hard drive with either smart ripper or
dvd decrypter etc, then open up the vts ifo file from the folder on your
hard drive with dvd shrink....

I will try using an older version, but where do I get it? The old versions page on dvdshrink.org comes up 404 not found.

Like everyone sez. Use dvddecrypter.

I tried an older version of Shrink and it was worse than the latest
one IME.

this is the second time i heard of this issue....the common factor is
the Pioneer burner...another person had this same isssue, using the
same software version and Pioneer burner.

I burned a copy of Repo Man and it asked the same question regarding
the region...it burned just fine with no problems...

I'm expecting one day that DVDshrink to stop copying a movie, because
someone has decided to stop DVDshrink from working?
ie. to make movies DVDshrink proof?

With the movie (PAL version) of 'Love Actually' DVDshrink seems to take
a very long time with this one, in that there seems to be a long time with
a black blank screen at the start of the DVD, and it seems to take about
3x as long to copy this movie to hard drive before writing it out.
Whereas, with a normal movie - like - 'Something's Gotta Give' (PAL version)
there is no problem with using DVDshrink on it.
[I'm using version of DVDshrink 3.1].

I did get a copy of Love Actually to finally work.
When it was saved to HD, it was longer (Just a bit more --- I don't
know why it ended up, being just past the 4.3 gig?) than the capacity of a
DVD, so I had to redo it again, to HD (from the copy on the HD) before
writing it out so that it could fit onto a blank DVD disc.

Has anyone noticed this with any other movie too?

i've found that there is a limit to the amount of compression that DVD
shrink will allow. i can only suggest dumping something you don't need
or if there isn't anything to dump do as you have done and simply shrink
it twice. I compiled 13 episodes of Tripping the rift to one DVD using
this method. the secong pass through DVD shrink only had to compress it
another 3%
