Post by Andersen [3650]I've tried DVD-Shrink, but not so easy to make a DVD the way you
want to. If compression % getting to high you have to reauthor.
I would like a program where I just have to check/uncheck what
part I want to have on my copy.
Any suggestions??
I started out with DVD-Shrink, but moved to a combination of
DVD-Anywhere and CloneDVD2 (both by the same publisher).
DVD-Anywhere acts as a sort of supplemental disc driver that presents
the disc with copy protection removed.
CloneDVD2 is the app that actually selects/rips the whole DVD or
whatever tracks you want ripped.
Typically, I rip the entire DVD to disc using CloneDVD2 and then come
back at the disc/ripped version one or more times with CloneDVD2 to get
the titles I want.
A few DVDs have subtitles that neither CloneDVD2 nor DVD-Shrink can
capture. For those I use something called HandBrake. It's slow as
death, but it gets the job done: burning the desired subtitles into the
rip.
As far as compression goes, CloneDVD2 makes it simple: you get no
options at all for controlling compression and most all rips come out at
4.3 gigs - which is no problem for me.
I save the complete rips on a NAS box in case I want to come back later
and re-rip some titles for some reason.
